Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a form of trauma therapy aimed at relieving and resolving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental and physical trauma-related health problems by focusing on the client’s perceived body sensations (or somatic experiences). This is a wonderful approach to learn how to have a more healthy and regulated nervous system. The process involves assisting the client in completing the fight, flight, and freeze responses through dialogue and gentle touch.
